About JhanaTraining.com

This website came about as a result of a dramatic increase in the number of visitors to Jhana8 requesting training information videos, coaching, online courses, books, and in-person retreats in Southern Thailand.

Jhana8 was more of an archive of information that visitors could search through to find something interesting about Jhana, Abhina, Non-Duality, and Perfect Concentration. In 2026 Vern decided to create the training resource that will help more people understand the process of attaining Jhana. This will be a membership site with affordable tiers nearly anyone can use to reach the higher Arupa Jhanas. That’s the aim anyway!

About Vern Lovic

Vern Lovic is an American meditation teacher, author, and coach who has lived in Krabi, Thailand for two decades. His focus is on helping people reach deep meditative states known as Jhanas — without religious dogma or rituals.

His journey began in the 1990s after exploring world religions in university and reading thinkers like Alan Watts, Krishnamurti, and Buddhadasa Bhikku. Through his Thai father-in-law, Vern learned the Forest Tradition’s breath-based meditation, blending it with mindfulness and self-experimentation. Over time, he stripped away all religious layers to create a direct, practical approach built purely on concentration and observation.

Despite early struggles with ADHD and scattered focus, Vern developed a system of training the mind through patient repetition and focus on the breath and the feeling of the breath at the nostrils. This process eventually led him through the Jhanas and into profound non-dual states of awareness — experiences he describes as impossible to explain fully but life-changing in every way.

Vern emphasizes that reaching Jhana isn’t mystical or reserved for monks. It’s accessible to anyone willing to sit, observe, and put in the work. His philosophy rejects religious dependence and insists that insight and transformation come from personal practice, not belief systems.

He has written several books distilling meditation into a practical, secular method, including Meditation for Beginners – A 22-Day Guide (over 35,000 copies sold), Meditation for Beginners – Secrets for Success, and Deep Jhana – Total Ego Annihilation. His work focuses on helping others reach deep concentration and the silence beyond thought.

Vern’s practice has evolved over nearly 30 years, from casual mindfulness to full immersion in consciousness exploration. He considers meditation a game of focus — training the mind until thought ceases and awareness remains. He sees this as the real gateway to transformation, possibly beyond the traditional notion of awakening or enlightenment.

Today, Vern teaches students around the world how to reach Jhana and explore deeper layers of awareness through practical, religion-free training here at JhanaTraining.com.
